It is finally Thursday and I have a new "In the Spotlight" for you.
They have just released their new album "The Reckoning"
From Sweden, here is Sole Syndicate!

Thank you soo much for chatting with us today.

- No worries! It's my pleasure!

Sole Syndicate, what is the story behind the name and how did you guys come together?

- (Jonas) grew up listening to hard rock and heavy metal but I was playing a lot of country music at the time and really missed playing and writing rock and metal.

So I decided to start a band but I didn't know who was going to be in the band so I called it Sole Syndicate because it is a bit of a contradiction. Sole meaning alone or one person and a Syndicate consists of a group of people.

And it ́s a cool sounding name...
So I started to write music on my own and made demos of the songs and when I had a bunch of songs I took them to some friends I knew like metal and were musicians and they liked what they heard so we started the band.

For the new fans, describe your music in 5 words.

- HARD & HEAVY BUT ALWAYS MELODIC!

The new album "The Reckoning" What inspired it and how do you feel you have grown from your earlier albums?

- It ́s inspired by the world that we live in and everything that is happening around us today.

It ́s an evolution of the previous albums and the third and final part of three albums (Last Days of Eden, Into the Flames, The Reckoning).

I tend to write about things that I read and hear about and things that affect me. This album is no exception.

What comes first, the lyrics or music and who does what?

- 95% of the time, the music comes first.

I write a riff or have a melody in my head and I record a rough demo of it in my studio.

When I have a foundation, I sing over it and try to come up with a topline that is melodic and catchy and often the first thing that I sing is the theme of the song on the final version.

What would you say is the best thing about being a metal band in Sweden?

- We have so many great metal- and hard rock bands from Sweden so the competition is razor sharp.
You really need to be on the top of your game to be a part of that exclusive group but we feel that for every album we release that Sole Syndicate has earned its place in that club of great bands.

What gives you the biggest rush, releasing a new album or getting up on stage?

- Getting up on stage!

Releasing an album is great and nervous, because you don't know what the fans or the press will think of it and to the band that is like showing your new born baby for the first time.
There is so much blood, sweat and tears in making an album.

We have spent two years writing, arranging and recording this album and when it's finally out it's more of a sigh of relief.

Getting up on stage and performing the new songs is something completely different.

It ́s here and now and there is no safety net around you. You never know what is going to happen and that is the greatest feeling in the world.

Meeting the fans and putting on a great show really gets you and the edge and it is a rush far greater than releasing an album!

What are you currently working on and what are your plans for the future?

- Right now we are rehearsing for the shows ahead and we are currently booking gigs in Sweden and in Europe.

We are putting together a show with some of the old songs but also with a lot of the new material from The Reckoning and it is so much fun playing the new songs live.

Remember that we wrote these songs more than two years ago so it ́s like learning them all over again.

We are also writing new material and have a lot of songs ready for the next album.

The plan for the future is to play live as much as we can in so many areas that we can.

We want people to discover us as a live act now when they have heard our recorded music.

What is the one thing you want your fans to know?

- We are here to stay!

We have released four albums in ten years time and this is just the beginning.

As a band we are getting better and better at finding our voice and we love doing this.

We are working really hard to come out and play and if you want us to come to your citeý, please request us at your
local club or venue and we will do all that is in our power to get there!

What is the one thing you would like the music industry to know?

- Respect bands and artists that are smaller and don't just focus on the big guns.

Give hard working musicians a chance to be heard on radio and on stage because you might be surprised how much
talent and energy a smaller band can deliver when given the chance.

Thank You for taking the time and for the interest in our band and our music.
Stay Safe and Rock Hard!

And that was my chat with Sole Syndicate.

Everytime I get one of these interviews back from the bands and read their answers, I can really Feel the passion and love and hard work they put into their music.

It is truly an honor to be able to share their stories with you.

The one thing I have always loved about social media is that you are only a click away from discovering your new favorite band, tune or whatever your heart desires.
And this is exactly how I found today's guest.
They have just released their second album "A Heart Without A Cause" and I just had to know more.
Lucky for me, when I reached out, hoping to get an interview, they said YES.

So I am Happy to introduce you to The Jilted!

Thank you so much for joining us today, and Congratulations to the new album, it is Great!

- Magnus: Thanks for having us and thank you, so glad you like it!

Who is The Jilted and what is the story behind your name?

- Magnus: We are Magnus Haderborg on vocals and guitars and Linus Giertta on synthesizers and programming. Linus does all the mixing as well.
We've got a background in several bands where Magnus have played more indie/garage rock while Linus have a background in more indie/folk bands and have also done some film music for Lukas Moodyson.
We started out when I needed some additional piano when recording with my other band, The Vapour Veils. So I contacted Linus and he said yes to lay some piano on it. At the same time I heard 2 songs that Linus had done and I was drawn to the sound. I loved them but I had a slightly different vision for them. So he sent me the tracks and I did some guitars, recorded my vocals and sent to him and...yeah, from that point on there was no going back. We just knew we would make great music together. 2 1/2 years, 2 albums and 30 songs later, here we are.

- Linus: The Jilted...Magnus had 94 different name suggestions, so I just picked one...

- Magnus: Yeah, I had some names in mind...But The Jilted is quite fitting. We´ve been playing in other bands for a long time and it´s really hard to break through, to be heard and noticed out there. So I think the name fits. We are the jilted ones, the ones the industry don´t know that they want or need. We are the jilted ones that were left behind.
I guess we don't really have any ambitions left when it comes to music. We only make music for our selves these days and if someone else likes what we do, feel what we feel with our music, that´s awesome!
And that brings a relaxed feel to our creative process. we don't care that a song needs to be a certain length or fit a certain formula. If we feel a song needs to be 6 minutes long with twists and turns, then it needs to be 6 minutes long with all its twists and turns.

Growing up, was it always about music or was it close you chose something else? and how did you guys connect?

- Linus: Music has always been there and I was from an really early age fascinated about synthesizers and sounds. I think it was "Some Great Reward" by Depeche Mode that started it.

- Magnus: I think I was about 5 or something when I realised that all that wonderful music I heard in my head; it was only me who could hear it. I was on a tram in Gothenburg where I grew, when my mother told me to quiet down. I was only singing along and I could not understand why no one else were singing along too.
It was there I realised the music is only in my head.

I started my first band at the age of 12, inspired by Guns N' Roses "Appetite For Destruction" and Depeche Modes "Black Celebration" Since then I've always played in bands and been writing songs.

For the new listeners, what can they expect from your music?

- Linus: Music that doesn't avoid feelings and don't look at what's trendy or how you're supposed to sound.

- Magnus: Yeah a world of sounds for all the feelings in the world. The lyrics are almost written by them selves in 5 minutes and taken directly from life. Soundwise we aim for big, warm synthwaves combined with playfoul sounds and my heavy metal guitar slides and indie rhythm guitars.
Some call it indie, some say it synthwave..Let's just call it indiewave!

I often ask who inspired a band growing up, but which artists would you say inspires you today?

- Linus: Billie Eilish, Jonathan Johansson and Bon Iver.

- Magnus: Croatian Amor's co-lab with Lust For Youth and their "Lost Worlds" is the album of the year in 2025! Overall I´ve listened extensively to Croatian Amor the last 2-2 1/2 years. Maybe it has had an impact on The Jilted sound, I don´t know.
Other artists I´ve been listening a lot to in 2025 is Beth Orton, Lorde, Slowdive (what a comeback they´ve done!), Entombed, Deicide, Ellen Allien and Saint Etienne. And, and, and...the list goes on. I just love music!

"A Heart Without A Cause" is your second album, how was the process this time compared with your first album "Heaven Can Wait"?

- Magnus: On our first album many of the songs started with a piano or a synthesizer and then guitars were added to take the songs towards a more indie/postrock sound. Somehow I think we had The Cure around late 80s in mind. But I don't know where we ended really...A mix up of different styles.

Whereas on our 2nd album many of the songs were written on guitar and then replaced by synths or taken towards a more electronic soundscape. Take a song like "Dangerous Liaisons", you can't even hear a trace of guitars on it. Well, almost anyway. We wanted to be more electronic, more synth based on this album. Darker. Because the songs are darker and the music was going to reflect the lyrics.

Album no. 1 took us about 7 months to finish and I think we were even faster with album no. 2. We took a break after the first album to work with our other bands and maybe that´s we needed ´cause album no. 2 went even faster to finish.
Both Linus and I have a really relaxed and synced way of creating. We feel the same and want the same with our music and we are very both wuite humble when it comes to criticism. We both want the best out come for the songs so it's not important who did what on a song.
Maybe that's why it's so easy for us to make music together? That and especially that I write songs in an idiotic pace. They just keep coming.

If you could pick one song each that you feel is extra important to you on this album, which would you pick and why?

- Magnus: Can I only choose one? So hard to pick.

- Linus: "Obvious". It has that happy/sad feel that I aim for when making music.

- Magnus: Maybe "Catch The Waves" or the title track "A Heart Without A Cause". They kind of summon the whole album in one song.

What are you currently working on, and what are your plans for the future?

- Magnus: Well, we have already started on new songs. We´ve talked about maybe doing a cover as well.
Our goal is to make an EP of 4 songs in the near future but that was also what we were aiming for when we started with "Dangerous Liaisons" in february. But the EP turned out to be a full album, spawning over 12 songs. So, we will see what happens.

We´ve also made a close to 6 minutes long remix of "Tonight Is Forever" and asked our friend, the stunning Fredrika Rei, to sing on it and it´s just great! It will be out on October 17.

What is the one thing you would like to tell your fans?

- Magnus: Thank you. Thank you for listening, for sharing, for the private messages about what the songs mean to you and for the thank you's you've sent to us.
We are so happy that you like what we do, feel what we feel. We want you to know that every song, every word in every lyric is true. Our songs are about real people living real lives; just like you.

What is the one thing you would like the music industry to know?

- Linus: AI is not the answer....
- Magnus: Hello!? Here we are!

And that was my chat with
The Jilted!
I really hope you enjoyed this as much as I did and that you'll take the time to looke em up.
And keep your eyes open for the new remix!
